This is us on a plane to Christchurch. While we were on the plane there was a real big aftershock in Christchurch from the earthquake and when we landed everyone was freaking out.

Buck and Brian were so freaked out about the earthquake they could not walk and had to have wheelchairs.
Brian felt better when he found some Southern Gold and he regained the use of his legs.
Then we drove for ages and found this lake. Buck reckons his Great Grandad built this lake and I have no reason not to believe him. Buck's Great Grandad was super tough like a lumberjack.
Then we were in Queenstown, where $10 wine costs $20 but you can drink it on the street until 10pm which is pretty ok. Also, people give you free Monster energy drinks on the street. You don't have to pay, they just GIVE them to you! They don't even want them! We all drank about 20 and had mild heart palpitations. Then 47 Diamantes did their set and Gemma rode me around the stage because I am a beautiful unicorn.
Then I rapped, Buck and Kelvin also rapped but I think they were kind of preocupied looking for their keys which they dropped down the side of the stage. Buck and Kel share one set of keys for some reason.

THEN SUDDENLY BY MAGIC: DUNEDIN!
Lucy got all Grand Theft Auto with her driving and it was real fun. Then we walked around Otago uni singing "TAAAAKE YOUR PLACE IN THE WORLD" and getting dirty looks from students.

Then we did a show at Refuel it was rad, everyone who came along was really awesome.

I wanted to be as cool as everyone else so I stood on this table or something

This is a really steep street. Lucy wanted to move there but Kelvin said "no!"

A WILD BOULDER APPEARS! 47 DIAMANTES, GO! GEMMA USED HUG, IT'S SUPER EFFECTIVE! KELVIN USED LEVITATE, BUT IT FAILED! WILD BOULDER USED TELEPORT! WILD BOULDER ESCAPED!

THEN, as if by accident... TIMARU!
These guys became our friends for life. Gemma got proposed to like 40 times.

JUST AS WE THOUGHT ALL HOPE WAS LOST... CHRISTCHURCH!
We were real stoked to be in Christchurch where everyone is either our friend or a skinhead. Didn't see any skinheads though only saw rad awesome people like Netta and Fion and T'nealle who are real nice to us. This is us in Netta and Fion's front yard looking moody.

This is someones house. They need to get a new wall.

We did a show. It was going to be at Good Bye Blue Monday but it ended up being at Al's bar because of the earthquake. Everyone in Christchurch who was cool showed up so if you are in Christchurch and you are wondering if you are cool or not well this is a good way for you to tell. It was good times.

Then, against our lawyer's advice, AUCKLAND
We did a show at Cassette #9, it was super fun. Lots of people came and they were all different and special and I got to know some of them and I became a richer person because of it. Also, multiple big screen TV's playing our music videos on repeat = awesome. Thanks Cassette!

Pikachunes also played and I wish I had some photos of his set because he was really really really freaking good. If you haven't heard his music you should look him up right now.

The next day we played at a scout hall in Mt Eden for people of all ages! It was awesome. People of all ages are my kind of people. Kitsunegari, Cool Cult and FATANGRYMAN played too and they were rad.

Then we did the Loop Select release party, but I don't have any photos of that. It was pretty cool though. WE SAW A DRAGON.

Three EPs in, prolific MC, Tommy Ill, is a svelte yet metaphorically obese young man – as his proverbial belt is having to be stretched yet again to make room for his self-titled debut LP.

“My goal was to make the strongest album I possibly could. I didn’t want to have any fillers – I wanted each song to be as exciting as the last. It’s been a long time coming but I think I’ve succeeded – I’d be comfortable putting any track on this album out as a single.” – Tommy Ill

Having released Toast & Tea Kettles (Empathy Recordings) in 2007, Matchsticks (LOOP) in 2008 and Come Home Mr. Ill (LOOP) in 2009, Tommy Ill has made his name with haphazard live sets and his humorous tales that document the foibles of your average, slightly awkward, fellow with Dionysian-leaning tendencies.

Being piggybacked around the stage by his hype men, tackling audience members, climbing on furniture and collapsing into a sweaty heap on the floor is nothing out of the ordinary at a Tommy Ill gig.

HEY YOU GUYS. I've got a new EP coming out called "Come Home Mr Ill". My good buddy B-Cool and I have been working hard on a music video for the title track, and now it's ready! The press release is below, - I wrote a different press release but most of it was swearing and things about horses so we couldn't use it, Hamish kindly re-wrote it and then Brian and I added things about drugs and being sexy. My press release involved the sentence "Lets buckle up our fuck belts and rape the internets because it's party time". I think we dodged a bullet there, thanks Hamish.

Holy Moley, Today Tommy Ill announces the release of the video for his single "Come Home Mr. Ill", the first single off his new EP of the same name, the follow up to 2008's critically acclaimed "Matchsticks".

One of New Zealand's most entertaining and original rappers, Tommy Ill's coming home and he's brought with him some brand spanking new visual delights. One year after wowing us with the video for "Letters to the Editor", he's back with fresh beats, a fresh track, and some fresh moving pictures in "Come Home Mr. Ill".

Loosely based on Little Red Riding Hood, and borrowing a little from Postman Pat and Monty Python, the video was shot entirely in HD in a small Wellington living room on a budget of $5. Director and hairy boy Brian Hainsworth says "We wanted to make a video on a tiny budget that looked like we had a huge budget but were trying to pretend our big budget video was low budget, but actually we had no budget. But I sure did have a lot of cocaine, and boy it was good! Golly! I can't feel my face, this rules."

It was so exciting. I was walking down the street and there he was, showing off one of his new electric wheelchairs. He's quite different in real life, I expected him to be quite short but he was almost as tall as me! He let me ride in his electric wheelchair for a bit and then he gave me $100!

We went and got coffee and ended up just chatting for ages and ages. I asked him what it was like to be famous and he said "I'm not that famous" and then I asked him about the whole jumping on oprah's couch thing and he looked confused and said "um... it's not a couch it's an electric wheelchair". That silly Tom Cruise!

I suggested to him that he should make an electric wheelchair that was in fact an electric chair with wheels, to make executions easier when you are on the go! He was hesitant at first but then he decided he liked the idea and he gave me another $100. He tried to kiss me but I said no because we could never be.

I have about half a handle of Captain Morgan's Rum, a rare vintage rum from the Caribbean. I bought this at a liquor store on Long Island in 2007, and believe that its taste has really aged to perfection. I am willing to sell this for $300.

I also have a very rare bottle of Aristocrat Tequila. You can taste the fine vintage in every sip. I acquired it from a friend who says he bought it at a liquor store in Baltimore in 2005. You can really taste that southern atmosphere in this one! Due to its rarity, I will sell this for $500.

Also, if you are interested, I have about half a case of vintage Natural Ice beer. It was acquired from a frat party I was at about a month ago. This frat has a very old history with Syracuse, and that history came with the beer. It doesn't get much more vintage than this. I will part with this at $50 per can.

I really hate to see this stuff go, but after my third DUI, the court ordered me to do a program that involves me staying sober, so I think it is best that I part with this rare liquor.

Please let me know if you are interested. I have several other buyers lined up, so I will need to know very soon.

What a great weekend

This weekend I was hanging out with my friends Brian and Hamish, and we were discussing what we should do with the bag of piglets we had just purchased. "What shall we do with all these piglets?" Hamish asked. "I don't know!" replied Brian.

Suddenly I had an idea: A TIGER

Luckily I had a tiger that I had prepared earlier.

Things did not work out as expected

Then the piglets became part of the tiger because of radiation. Hate you, radiation.

The people in Aro park thought the piglets were cute but then they got scared of the tiger and someone threw a brick at me. It was ok because i'm freaking immune to bricks. TOUGH AS STEEL. MY BLOOD IS FIRE.

Then we made the piglets and some baby tigers eat this enourmous tumor. It was one of those tumors that has bits of teeth and finger nails sticking out of it, it was kind of gross, but on the plus side Hamish no longer has cancer.

IT WAS A REALLY FUN TIME AND I THINK YOU SHOULD TRY IT.

I find this very useful for figuring out which rappers are white. Also, I'm learning new things about rap! Did you know Debbie Harry invented rap music in 1981?

Beastie Boy diagnosed with cancer

Adam "MCA" Yauch, a founding member of rap group the Beastie Boys, has a cancerous tumor in his salivary gland, forcing the cancellation of the band's upcoming concerts.

Yauch said in an online video that the cancer is "very treatable in most cases," and it is localised in his neck and not affecting his vocal chords.

"I apologise to everybody, for anyone who's made plans or was psyched to come to these shows that are coming up," Yauch said. "We'll be back doing this, so that's what's up."

As a result of the diagnosis, the Beastie Boys will push back the release of their upcoming album Hot Sauce Committee Part 1, the group's record label EMI said.

The album had previously been set for release on September 15, and the tour would have supported its launch. No new dates were set.

Yauch said he started feeling a lump in his throat about two months ago and he recently checked with a doctor and was diagnosed with the cancerous growth in his left salivary gland and an adjacent lymph node.

Yauch added that he expects to have surgery next week, and would follow that with radiation treatment.

Reuters interviewed Yauch last week and he seemed upbeat when talking about the future. His record label said Yauch was diagnosed with the tumor last week.

The Beastie Boys were one of the headlining acts at next month's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago.

Hey, um, welcome to my new website/blog/thing. I'm not blogging for Stuff.co.nz any more because I'm a bit too dangerous with what I write so this is going to be my new blog. The spiritual successor to Beats, Me? if you will. It's going to be lots more fun because I can now say naughty words, you can spam the hell out of my comments and I can publish things a lot quicker. Don't get me wrong, I love Stuff.co.nz, but I think maybe my blogs didn't quite belong there.

So yeah! Welcome, keep coming back and I'll try to keep writing things. Help my friend Tony Veitch find a date!

My friend Tony Veitch recently split with his wife Oliver. Apparently Oliver thinks he is a lady-breaker or something and doesn’t want to hang out with him while he’s all lady-breaky and stuff. I’ve never seen Tony break a lady, except for once but I’m pretty sure she fell down the stairs into his fist and it wasn’t really his fault or something.

Anyway, Tony is really lonely now. D-Bain and I were talking and we decided that Tony needs to get over Oliver and get back into the dating scene again. So tonight we are taking a break from recording the new D-Bain single (a cover of We Are Family by Sister Sledge) and we’re going to take Tony out on the town he can meet a nice lady.

I’m not sure what sort of ladies Tony likes. D-Bain suggested that maybe Tony should have a lady that is “a bit more durable”. I wasn’t sure what he meant. Probably something to do with sports because Tony likes sports. He used to be on the TV and when he was on the TV he would often talk about sports. I don’t know much about sports but Tony is my buddy so I’d watch him on the TV anyway. I would laugh whenever he mentioned “hookers” or “rugby”.

D-Bain suggested we have a look on Find Someone just to get an idea of what Tony might like in a woman. Someone who likes sports and is good with stairs would be ideal. Unfortunately this was all we found, I don’t think they are right for Tony:

We sent a “smile” to the old chick but I don’t think she is going to reply.

So I guess we’ll just have to cross our fingers and toes and hope that Tony meets someone nice when we go out tonight. We’ll probably go to Mighty Mighty or something, I don’t think Tony or D-Bain have been there before but I think they would like it. Does anyone here want to date my friend Tony? Do you know anyone that would? Are you durable and enjoy sports?
